and so it begins...

The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed. Hands down my favourite opening of a book. The Gunslinger by Stephen King. Opens up the whole world of The Dark Tower, and also sums it up so eloquently.

But this isn't really a work of fiction I'm writing here. Just my life. Stranger than fiction. But just my life.

So I will attempt to share a thought or two and maybe even a photo each day on my way to that golden age. 50.

My life has been definitely interesting for the first half a century. I'd be dishonest with myself if I claimed otherwise. I never imagined being where I am on my last year before turning 50.
But then again, who does?
I know I had plans of grandeur for this time of my life (which included being a millionaire), and more modest plans (which included having an RRSP), and some have come true while others - many others - did not. At the same time, I don't seem to care that much. I guess that's a good thing.

I'm not really sure what the real purpose of this blog is, but I feel like it'll become whatever it wants to be, and I'm just going to go along for the ride.

So let's get on this last ride before I reach the Golden Gate of 50. Please ensure your seat belt is securely fastened. Keep your hands and feet inside at all times. Do not stand up while the ride is in motion. Close your eyes, put your hands up, and let's do this.
